Disadvantages are as follows: 1. Distribution of powers between centre and state Government leads to many conflicts. Because evey state has a separate jurisdiction of rights. 2. The Constitution being rigid cannot be adjusted to the fast changing conditions. 3. The state govt sometimes place hindrance in the foreign policy of the centre. 4. Lack of uniformity in administration because of duel government that is one at the centre and the other in the states. 5. Threats to national unity because sometimes the units are allowed to secede. This is called the Right of self determination. 6. As compared to unitary govt, federal govt is weaker because there is division of powers in it. In unitary, there is centralisation of powers; hence the govt is strong and the administration is stable.
