How were the Fundamental Orders based on religion?

    The Fundamental Orders (of Connecticut) mention God in numerous times. The force behind the Orders were the religious Puritans, and they mention that the one of the purposes of their association (they call it "Commonwealth) is to preserve the Gospel and live according to it.
