African American soldiers faced more difficulties because they had different color skin. They were treated unfairly and didn't have much rights, and they were used as slaves. The only way a slave could fight is if their owner gave them permission or sighned them over to the army. Many African Americans were sighned over to the army because most white men wanted to stay home and protect their families or were disabled.
