The reason why the Central Intelligence Agency, more better known as the CIA, has more freedom of action than other federal agencies is because they have a very important role which revolves around securing and informing the country of suspicious activity. To do this, certain boundaries often have to be crossed.

That is because they deal in intelligence gathering and covert operations to root out threats both in and out of the United States. Whether it was the Cold War or terrorism, the CIA needed to go deep where agencies could trend. Though some of its activities are criticized as too extreme, it is needed to gather intelligence to combat threats against the country.
