A shooting star or falling star is not a star at all. It is a small rock or a dust that enters Earth's atmosphere. It is so fast that it burns up as it enter the atmosphere thus it looks glowing when it passes through the atmosphere. This shooting star is what the astronomers termed as meteors. Meteors burns up before it reaches the Earth's ground.
