What were Picasso's probable motives for painting Guernica?

    Picasso was likely moved by the bombing of Guernica - he was appalled by the life loss (at the time thought to be 1500, now revised to 400) and distraction and he wanted to share this with others - to move them and to make people away of the distruction connected to war and to prevent future attacks.
