Is it important for the U. S. government to respect peoples' civil rights as it wages a war against terrorism?

    It is absolutely important for the government to respect people's' civil rights. The Bill of Rights--the first 10 Amendments outlined in the U. S. Constitution--protects a person's civil rights. It is against the constitution to deprive a person of his/her rights, despite any possible circumstances.
