Why did washington order the declaration of independence read to my army?

    He ordered it to be read because it gave hope to the soldiers that were fighting it gave them something to fight for and believe in. It made them feel better in these trying times to know what there cause was and that it was important. It promoted more patriotism among the soldiers.
