The answer is a republic as opposed to constitutional monarchy. Initially they opted for constitutional monarchy but the king did not accept the limitations of his position. Later foreign troops were on their way and this resulted in the failure of this system of government. It later paved the way for a republic.

I believe the answer is: a republic as opposed to constitutional monarchy.

In constitutional monarchy, the country is still headed by the monarch as its central government, but the monarch must acted within the scope of the constitution.

The centrist argued that republic is a better form of government because it give the most power to the people that elected the government officials.
