    The answer is the Great Plains. Many were hunted for their skins and the remains were left to rot. This also affected the Buffalo because the Bison started to go with Buffalo herds and the Buffalo was hunted as well. This caused great conflict as the Buffalo was a source of food and shelter for the Indians.
