    A mural is simply an awfully a giant painting that has been painted directly on a wall. most up-to-date artists build a smaller version of the painting and so typically use projectors to project it on the wall and pencil in a top level view before painting it.

    There aren't any rules on what will and what can not be the topic of a mural. In churches and convents typically scenes from the Bible (Michelangelo within the Sistine Chapel or Leonardo's Seder in Milan can be considered as two different examples.
