Description of how a current social/cultural institution or activity that shows evidence of enlightenment thinking?

Many of our current institutions function today based on the principles of the enlightenment most notably the increased use of logic and reason along with the growth in individualism rather than tradition. One of the major developments of the enlightenment period was the scientific method which continues to shape how we address phenomenon and questions in our world. When any scientists whether a hard scientist or social scientist addresses a question they use the principles of the scientific method to create hypotheses and make inquiries to make conclusions to better understand the natural and theoretical world.
