Why are 90% of sexually ambiguous newborns assigned to the category of "female" in societies with advanced medical technology?

    All humans start off as female, and only develop male characteristics later in the growing stages. If a newborn is not totally male, it is therefore "female", since that's the "default state". This is also why males have useless nipples.
