    Ionic solids are formed as a result of transfer of electrons from one atom to another resulting to ionic bond between the ions formed. Ionic solids therefore contains an ordered array of mono atomic or polyatomic ions held together by ionic bonds. Example is Solid sodium Chloride (NaCl).
