A person is able to squeeze a clothespin more times if they exercise beforehand because many body systems have been activated during the prior exercise. The respiratory system is activated providing increased oxygen to brain and other muscles. The circulatory system is activated to move blood from lungs and brain to the proper muscles. The brain has been activated to a mechanical task such as muscle movement.
