Without regular function of the cardiovascular system, nutrients and Oxygen can fail to reach their targets with efficiency, thus making an organisms homeostasis harder to maintain, as more work and energy is needed to do so.

Without regular function of the respiratory system, gases needed for survival, such as oxygen, can't be obtained, and so again an organism would have to work harder and use more energy to maintain homeostasis.
