    To regenerate the original population

    Explanation:

If the four mates survive to climate conditions, their offspring also survive to environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, food, shelter, etc. so by passing a long long time, the original population can be regenerated and give a balance again in that ecosystem with the others species that live over there. So the food web is not going to change.
