Signal reception, signal transduction, and cellular response.

    Explanation:

The process of sensation starts as the sensory receptors receive an appropriate stimulus. This stage is called sensory reception. During this stage, the stimulus activates the receptors. The reception of the signal is followed by its transduction during which the sensory receptor converts the energy in the stimulus into a graded potential.

When a graded potential in a sensory neuron reaches a threshold, one or more nerve impulses are triggered. The nerve impulses are propagated towards the CNS. The specific part of CNS receives and integrates specific sensory inputs and sends the motor outputs to the effector organs / glands which in turn produce the response.
