Linked genes are genes that are likely to be inherited together because they are physically close to one another on the same chromosome. During meiosis, chromosomes are recombined, resulting in gene swaps between homologous chromosomes.

The genes are present on the same chromosomes and inherited together in an organism is known as linked genes.

    Explanation:

Linked genes do not assort independently and result in the formation of recombinants. The distance between the linked gene determine the recombination frequency of the offspring.

These genes donot follow the Mendel's law of heredity and may get separate due to crossing over during the process of meiosis.
