The test of BRCA 1 and 2 genes is always a good idea because it can be a way of preventing an early development of a possible treatable cancer. The difference between BRCA1 and 2 to Tay-Sachs is that the disease manifests normally at adults on the mutation from BRCA and at early ages on the mutation from Tay-Sachs.

Explanation:

The mutations from BRCA gene can be tested and the carrier of that mutation can prevent himself from that disease with years of antecedence.

The disease from Tay-Sachs manifests normally in early ages and also is incurable, which doesn't give much of a relief if a test is made for the carrier of the mutation.
