Why are many of the same genes found in almost all living organisms

    Similar genes arose independently under similar conditions. There are limited macromolecules involved. Also DNA is considered a universal genetic code because every known living organism has genes made of DNA ... All organisms also use DNA to transcribe RNA, and then they translate that RNA into proteins. Every living organism uses that same system. Basically, every three pieces of DNA becomes one amino acid.
