The "Emergent Layer" is the top most layer consisting mostly of the tops of tall trees. The "Canopy Layer" is the next layer down and is a dense layer of branches and leaves, this is the most plant dense layer of a rainforest. Below the canopy is the "Understory Layer" which is made up of the trunks of trees and land animals. Then the "Forest Floor Layer" is the home of ground cover plants and insects.
