Why doesn't work get done on certain regions of dna molecules?

    In Dr Eric Lander's interview with Dr. Krulwich explained in "Cracking the Code of Life that there 50% of our DNA is not doing anything. They only travel along the DNA where they can copy from one place to another. That is the only function that this DNA do.
