    It depends on the number of chromosomes the organism has.

    For example humans have 48 so the haploid cells contain 24 chromosomes.

    The cells divide by a process called mitosis. This is the process by which a cell divides resulting in two daughter cells that are genetically identical to each other and to the parent cell.
