The answer is: The company has a valid easement

    Explanation:

An easement is the right to use someone else's property for an specific purpose. But an easement doesn't give legal owner rights over the property. The utility company probably got a utility easement for the installation of the natural gas line. Utility companies are not required to inform property owners about the easements it is entitled to.
