While the Clean Air Act seems like a deterrent in achieving maximum efficiency, it is a necessary burden to ensure cleaner air for future generations.

To comply with the restriction on the amount of sulfur dioxide we can release, we will have to lower our production capacity. That means most of our resources will remain underutilized. Furthermore, lower output will mean lower profits. If we need to increase production in the future, we'll have to purchase additional allowances from other companies. These purchases will again increase our costs and lower our profits.

But we cannot choose to ignore the impact we cause on the environment either. The gases escaping from the plant not only pollute the immediate neighborhood, but also pose the risk of acid rain. As part of a national organization, it is our responsibility to limit the damage we cause to the environment.

Although the Clean Air Act restrains businesses like ours, we need to focus on the safer future it promises.
