Which transformation requires a complete meltdown of the rock into magma?

    I would say the transformation would be say when the ocean floor rocks are pushed under the continental crust in the zone of subduction, then those rocks will melt as they descend into the deep crust or mantle and be converted into magma which will then rise upwards towards the surface.
