    C₁₀H₁₂O₂ + Br₂ + H ₂ O → C ₁₀ H ₁₃ O ₃ Br + HBr

    Some C ₁₀ H ₁₂ O ₂ Br ₂ also form as a product.

    When we use bromine water test to detect the double bond in alkenes, an alkene will change the color of bromine from brown to colorless.
