When you're being held hostage, you're going to want to have low resistance. Sure, it's not going to guarantee you'll live, however, it'll surely buy you time for support, think for a plan, and sadly delay your demise. High Resistance during workouts for better muscle. In contrast though, do you mean electrical resistance? That would be a different answer.
