How many moles of CuSO4 are used to make 250 ml of a 0.50 M CuSO4 solution?

    In order to prepare a 250 ml solution of CuSO₄ of 0.5 M we need to calculate the amount of CuSO₄ requires. So, as we know,

    Molarity = Moles / Volume of Solution

    Also,

    Molarity = (Mass : M. mass) / Volume of Solution

    Solving for Mass,

    Mass = Molarity * M. mass * Volume

    Putting Values, ∴ 250 ml = 0.25 dm³

    Mass = 0.5 mol. dm⁻³ * 159.6 g. mol⁻¹ * 0.25 dm³

    Mass = 19.95 g

    Step 2:

    Take 19.95 g of CuSO₄, add it to volumetric flask and add distilled water upto the mark of 250 ml. The resulting solution will be of concentration 0.5 M.
