If you had a sample of beryllium, would all of the atoms be identical. what about a sample of carbon

    Of course not, In a sample, there will be different isotopes of Beryllium like B-8, B-11, B-5, B-7, B-15 etc.

    Same goes for Carbon sample. C-8, C-12, C-13, C-14 etc.
