    Mass of ethane = 24 g

    Mass of oxygen = 16.9 g

    Mass of water = ?

    Solution:

    Chemical equation:

    2C₂H₆ + 7O₂ → 4CO₂ + 6H₂O

    Moles of ethane:

    Number of moles = mass/molar mass

    Number of moles = 24 g / 30.07 g/mol

    Number of moles = 0.8 mol

    Moles of oxygen:

    Number of moles = mass/molar mass

    Number of moles = 16.9 g / 32 g/mol

    Number of moles = 0.53 mol

    Now we will compare the moles of water with oxygen and ethane.

    C₂H₆ : H₂O

    0.8 : 6/2*0.8 = 2.4 mol
