Wine goes bad soon after opening because the ethanol in it reacts with oxygen gas from the air to form water and acetic acid, the main ingredient of vinegar. What mass of ethanol is consumed by the reaction of 3.37g oxygen gas?

    The molar mass of O₂ is 32g / mole. Therefore the O₂ moles consumes in the reaction is;

    3.37 / 32

    If the molar mass of ethanol is 46.07g/mole, and the ration of reaction in 1 : 1; Then the moles of ethanol consumed is;

    3.37/32 * 46.07

    = 4.85g
