An experiment requires 45.6g of isopropyl alcohol as reagent. Instead of measuring the mass of a liquid on a balance you decide to determine the mass by using an equivalent volume measured in a graduated cylinder. The density of isopropyl alcohol is 0.785g/mL. What volume of the alcohol is required for the experiment.

    58.089 mL

    Explanation:

    Density:

    Density is equal to the mass of substance divided by its volume.

    Units:

    SI unit of density is Kg/m3.

    Other units are given below,

    g/cm3, g/mL, kg/L

    Formula:

    D=m/v

    D = density

    m=mass

    V=volume

    Symbol:

    The symbol used for density is called rho. It is represented by ρ. However letter D can also be used to represent the density.

    Given dа ta:

    density of isopropyl alcohol = 0.785 g/mL

    mass = 45.6 g

    volume = ?

    Now we will put the values in the formula,

    d = m/v

    v=m/d

    v = 45.6 g / 0.785 g/mL

    v = 58.089 mL
