A sample of granite contains various oxides of silicon, aluminum, sodium, potassium, calcium, and iron. Each of these oxides gives the granite a coarse-grained texture. Which term or terms could be used to describe this sample of granite?

    An heterogeneous mixture is the combination of two or more pure substance that are non uniform in composition. Homogeneous mixture, the composition of the pure substances that makes up the mixture are uniformly distributed. Example of homogeneous mixture is air containing oxygen, Nitrogen, carbon dioxide and very little amount of rare gases.

    The granite containing various solid oxide of aluminium, sodium, potassium, calcium and iron are combined non uniformly.
