Why does electronegativity increase as you move across the periodic table

    EN is the tendency of atom to attract the bonding pair of elecrons toward itself so as we move across period the size of atom remains same and nuclear charge increses so it can attract valance shell more tightly toward it and also the bonding pair which is formed and its vice versa in group
