Water tends to order itself around nonpolar solutes. Is there more or less surface area of a nonpolar solute when it is composed of tiny droplets or a larger droplet?

    When non-polar solute is larger in size then water droplets surrounding it will be smaller is size. As a result, surface area will also be less.

    On the other hand, when non-polar solute is smaller is size then water droplets surrounding it will be larger in size. Hence, in that case there will be large surface area.

    Therefore, we can conclude that large size non-polar solute with water droplets has less surface area. And, a smaller size non-polar solute with water droplets around it will have large surface area.
