    30

    Explanation:

A valance electron is an electron in the outer shell. Both Sulfur and Oxygen have 6 valance electrons. Because there is 1 sulfur atom and 4 oxygen atoms in SO4, that means it is 5x6, giving 30 valance electrons.

Its 32 because Sulfur has 6 valence electrons (group 6) and Oxygen also has 6 valence electrons. Because there are 4 oxygen atoms and 1 sulfur atom, (6+(4*6))=30. It has a charge of 2- so you add 2 electrons. 30+2=32 so 32 is your answer
