Rotation is the spin of a body on its axis. Revolution is the movement of one body around another in an ellipse-shaped path called an orbit. Earth rotates on its axis and revolves around the Sun. The moon rotates on its axis and revolves around Earth.

Explanation: Rotation is when the Earth spins on it's axis and that's how there's 24 hours in one day to complete a rotation. Revolution is when the Earth re-volutes itself around the Sun. At the end of each year the Earth makes a complete revolution around the Sun. This is also the same for the moon revolting around Earth, making it day and night.
