There are numerous examples of how two different species may compete for the same exact prey. One of the best examples is a fox and a wolf. Both of these animals are separate species and both will hunt rabbits for food. Another example is a lion and a tiger. Both of these species will hunt for the same prey and fight over who will get to the prey first. Both the lion and tiger will hunt and eat an antelope.
