What occurs if the amount of rainfall exceeds the use of water and the soil is saturated? (Earth Science it was not on the subject list!)

    When soil becomes saturated, water stays on the surface. If there is no surface gradient, the water will pool. Likely, there will be surface gradient, and this water will become surface runoff.
