When an electron jumps from a high energy state to a lower state, what form does the emitted energy take?

    Energy should be released or absorbed if am electron transfer energy. When an electron jumps from a high energy state to a lower state, a photon is emitted or released. However, when the electron goes from low to high, energy is absorbed.
