    Explanation:

    Total resistance (Rt) = R1 + R2 = 500 + 2000 = 2500 ohm

    V = IRt

    I = V/Rt = 12/2500 = 4.8*10^-3 A

    Voltage across the 2000 ohm resistor (V2) = IR2 = 4.8*10^-3 * 2000 = 9.6 V
