In Romeo and Juliet prologue, why is the relationship strained between the "star-crossed lovers"?

    It's been a while since I read Romeo and Juliet, but I'm fairly certain that their relationship was strained because they were desperately trying to keep it a secret. The whole idea of Romeo and Juliet is that they are each members of a family that is feuding with the other, and so they must keep their relationship a secret.
