In my opinion, the rap group VIP (Vision in Progress) embraced Hip Life as a symbol of their cultural heritage because they incorporated various Ghanaian languages into their form hip hop music. On the other hand, even though they did not primarily assume African American performance, they imitated African American slang and dressing.
