Confidence and determination are extremely important qualities for an explorer. An explorer who is not confident would not trust himself. He is also likely to second-guess his decisions, or question whether he is capable of succeeding in his enterprise. This is likely to make him more negative, fearful for hesitant, which are qualities that are desirable in people who face difficult tasks.

Similarly, determination is an important quality for such a character. Determination will encourage an explorer to act on his decisions, and be ready to face challenges and obstacles without giving up.

Other qualities that are important in an explorer would be perseverance, patience, resilience, flexibility and curiosity.
