There are several examples as to how the setting affects or contributes to the plot. In the last two acts the characters are caught in a small room giving the impression that they have been stuck in a trap. Although the story is not based off of an exact historical event it is written as if it did happen (historical fiction). It takes place in Salem and is made to show similarity to the events in 1952 from the UnAmerican Activities Committee Hearings. But however the Salem events truly happened in 1692.
