    Utterson is the example of a perfect Victorian Gentleman. He is the type of person who never betrays secrets and believes in maintaining order as well as protecting his friends. These qualities that make him who he is get challenged when he witnesses the strange changes in the behavior of his friend Dr. Jekyll. His loyalty is now put to the test as the story progresses. He is torn over his over his beliefs and his curiosity about what is happening to his friend.
