The Mayas were involved in struggles among themselves and with other tribes. Some earlier cities had been deserted, probably the result of a peasant uprising. These cities soon crumbled into ruin. Other struggles with the Spanish probably led to the ultimate fall of the Mayan Civilization. Traces of this ancient civilization yet remain in the tangled jungle undergrowth of Mexico. From these ruins have been unearthed hieroglyphic records of their learning, beliefs, and history.

Does this paragraph implies that the Mayans were a peaceful people?
