6x + y = - 30,

36x + 6y = 24

Which statement is true about the system of equations?

After solving this system, you get a true statement.

This system has one solution.

    36x + 6y = 24 ... reduce by dividing by 6

    6x + y = 4 ... put in slope intercept form (y = mx + b)

    y = - 6x + 4

    6x + y = - 30 ... put in slope int form (y = mx + b)

    y = - 6x - 30

    in y = mx + b form, the slope is in the m position and the y intercept is in the b position.

    y = - 6x + 4 ... slope = - 6, y int = 4

    y = - 6x - 30 ... slope = - 6, y int = - 30

    parallel lines will have the same slope but different y intercepts ... so this system of equations, if graphed, would be parallel
